Remembrance Sunday

The annual 2 minute silence at the War memorial on the High Street was well attended in the bright November sunshine. Representatives of the scouts and brownies, League of Frontiersmen, fire brigade, police and British legion laid wreaths. Father Nick Plant led the memorial service with the choir and many Cookham residents.
Next year is the 100th anniversary of the start of the Great war and a number of Cookham residents have voiced concern that the War Memorial (featured in Stanley Spencer's art) is in need of cleaning in time for next year's Poppy Day. memorial.
