The
concert was a delight to listen to and the music, composed mainly for a
small choir, was well suited to the voices of the choir. Of special note
was the choir’s dramatic rendering of This Worldes Joie by Arnold Bax
that opened the second half of the concert.

The
choir showed what it was capable of in John Tavener’s settings
of ‘The Tyger’. This is a dramatic and demanding work which
for some of the time is in 14 parts, no mean feat for a choir of
just over 28 singers. Julia Millard sang the soprano solo
beautifully in Britten cantata “Rejoice in the Lamb”.
