Cookham Society Votes for New Chairman (24 May 2001) |
||||||||
The Cookham Society held its AGM on Thursday 24 May with an unprecedented number of people standing for the Committee. There was also a vote for the Chairman. The two people standing for the position of Chairman were Richard Gold, who has been the Society's Secretary and David Ricardo. The final voting was Richard Gold 39 and David Ricardo 28. So Richard is now the new chairman of the Cookham Society. John Gibbings was voted in as Treasurer. The positions of Vice Chairman and Secretary received no nominations. |

In all 21 people stood for election on the committee with only fifteen positions being available. A ballot was then held for the new committee. Bill Spicer had done an excellent job of producing a ballot box and ballot papers. Eat your heart out Tony Blair. |

Susie Tremlett then said
that the Cookham Society owed a great deal of thanks to John Bowley who
was standing down after a fairly tumultuous year.
The AGM was followed by a talk on Anglo Saxon Cookham. |
