While the rest of the country yawns at
the David Davis by-election in Yorkshire - Cookham is rife with
election fever!!
A by election, caused by the resignation of
Cllr John Hewitt, has brought a rush
of candidates (almost) to fight for the vacancy...
The Tories and Labour were unable to find a
candidate - so the Lib Dems are challenged by two independents.
Democracy is expensive. Polling stations
have to be booked and manned, voting slips printed - and polling
cards sent to everyone on the electoral register.
A good turnout will be considered to be anything over 15% of the electorate. So make sure you cast your vote - and lets hope the winner will turn up to attend their Parish Council duties! | ||||
