Timmy Mallett's Portraits Help Pinder Hall (24 June 2003) |
||
Money
raised from the sale of Timmy’s 50 Portraits of Cookham is going to help
local Cookham Charities. The most recent charity to benefit is the Cookham Village Pinder hall, in Lower Road. The
village Hall is currently being refurbished with a great new sound system,
and loop for the hard of hearing. Timmy
Mallett’s Portraits of Cookham have given Cookham Village Pinder hall £250
for five
much needed, new tables.
The
hall is used a lot and so there is a certain amount of wear and tear on
the tables and chairs, so this gift was a very welcome one. As
part of the refurbishment of Pinder Hall the new tables will make a
difference to the many users of Cookham village Pinder Hall. Among the many groups using Pinder Hall regularly are Bridge
clubs, quizzes, parties, lectures, markets stalls, aerobics, keep fit
classes, W.I. market, badminton, salsa dancing, yoga, plant sales, antique
fairs and the many theatrical productions seen in the village. The
Pinder Hall really acts as a central part of Cookham life. Timmy
is delighted to help “I’ve been
to lots of functions at the village hall and I’m really pleased we have
been able to help like this. People have been very generous, especially
when they knew the money would go towards Cookham charities. We are
delighted to be able to help so many smaller organisations that would
otherwise struggle to find funds.” |
