2005 was the year that Cookham visited their French twin in France. For those of you who did not know, Cookham is twinned with St Benoit, which is a village about fifty miles south of Tour which is on the Loire.

Cookham twinned with St Benoit in 1995 and we were their most recent twin as can be seen from the road sign.

On the Saturday a visit was made to the Corderie where rope used to made.

A visit was made to Rochefort and the group were able to look round the frigate Hermione a replica of the original being built in a dry dock in Rochefort.

After the visit to Hermione, there was a meal at a fish restaurant at La Fumée, a headland surrounded by oyster beds just north of Rochefort.

On the final evening a party was held and Judy Trinder dressed up in French costume and gave a speech. Well done Judy.
