Cookham Residents' Success in ITV's Boot Sale Challenge (2 July 2001) |
|||||||||||
Back in May we mentioned that Broomhill resident Robin Cruse and friend Jeanette Steven had been chosen to take part in Boot Sale Challenge and hopefully some of you saw them take part on ITV on a Sunday night in May.
They were sworn to secrecy as to how well they had done until the series had been shown. The finals were shown on Sunday 24 June. |

The Challenge consisted of two teams of boot sale enthusiasts competing against each other to see who could unearth the most valuable goods within a limited budget. The only condition was that the applicants had to live in the LWT region. |

The presenter, Lorne Spicer, guided the two teams of contestants through a boot sale somewhere in London and the Southeast. Lorne was joined by expert judges, Mark Oliver from Phillips Auctioneers, and Paul Hetchin, an antique collectibles dealer. |

The two teams were given 90 minutes to race around the boot sale in search of that special boot sale bargain, which could be worth a fortune. With Lorne on hand to offer advice, information and handy hints, they could turn their spending money into a lot more! At the end of the show, the teams presented their boot sale buys to Mark and Paul who totted up the value of the goods and announced which team has been the most successful bargain hunter. | |||||||||||

Jeanette
and Robin were allowed to keep what they had 'bought'. Not only that they
bought fame to Cookham by coming second overall. The above photos were all
taken in the Isle of Wight, where the final was held.
CONGRATULATIONS Jeanette and Robin |
