Children from the four Cookham primary schools (Herries, Cookham Dean, Cookham Rise and Holy Trinity, Cookham) joined together as a large combined choir, directed by Liz Croft, to present a wonderful concert to a packed audience of all ages. There were a number of short pieces to start, one of which included a quartet, followed by the main focus for the evening, Jonah-Man Jazz, written by Michael Hurd with its pastiche jazz, blues and rock ‘n’ roll rhythms. The children sang from memory, clearly articulating the stories they were telling, and they were obviously enjoying themselves. They and all the staff involved are to be congratulated on a lively and engaging performance; the result of much hard work. As an interlude we were treated to a couple of numbers from the Furze Platt senior school Jazz band which certainly got a lot of feet tapping and singing from the audience near us!
