Exhibition: One Artist, Three Visions

An exhibition of paintings by Mandy McAllen in acrylic, watercolour and mixed media. Mainly landscapes, this exhibition explores different ways of representing the colours, shapes and textures of places Mandy has visited at home and abroad.

 

Exhibition opens Monday May 1st and runs to 31 May.

 

 


Off The Wall an Art Installation

shanlyCookham Moor hosts this major art installation. Officially opening on Friday, 5th May, this is, literally, the biggest Art Event The Moor has seen in years!
A striking celebration of 50 years of "Growing The Arts", from the imaginations of BCA students, you really CAN’T miss this! – come and enjoy being “Off The Wall”!

Starts Thursday May 4th.


Exhibition: The Cookham Floods by Sarah Luton

Local artist Sarah Luton shows her paintings of the memorable 2014 Cookham floods. She painted many of these on the spot, capturing a significant moment in Cookham’s recent history. Meet Sarah at the Irène Laksine Gallery on Saturday 6 May 2pm-7pm. The Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am- 5pm.

The exhibition runs to 21 May.

 


The Sculpture Garden

The Sculpture Garden is one of the Festival highlights, attracting collectors and admirers across Britain to not only view the artwork, but also to explore the fabulous grounds of the Odney  Club.

For a fifth year Lucy Irvine of Barn Galleries has curated a fantastic exhibition of outdoor sculpture. On display for 2017 are the latest works by internationally known and collected artists as well as local  sculptors.

This year’s exhibition boasts a feast of extravagant colours, elaborate works and exotic materials in celebration of Cookham Festival’s  Golden Anniversary. Look out for kinetic works, giant peacock feathers and over-sized coloured pencils.

Be inspired by the sculptures large and small. With every piece on sale, you are sure to discover a work that adds a new dimension to your garden. Visit www.thesculpturegarden.co.uk to see participating artists.

Painting Competition: Nature of Cookham - Exhibition

Bring your original artwork - in any medium - to the Community Room in the Library between 2pm and 3pm on May 10th.

Calling all artists whether established or aspiring. Release your inner Rembrandt!
Bring along your painting - new or old, in any medium - that expresses The Nature of Cookham: its buildings, landscape, people, activities or nature.

The competition is open to all with prizes awarded in adult, junior and child categories. One entry per artist.
Get creative and see your work exhibited! Dig out your old art box and show us what you can do - or what you have already done.

10 May 2pm-3pm - Submit your original work at the Community Room, Cookham Library.

12-21 May - Visit the exhibition in the Community Room and encourage your friends and family to visit and vote. Opening times:

May 12             2pm - 4pm

May 13 & 14 11am - 1pm

May 15-19     2pm - 4pm.

May 20         11am - 1pm.

19 May - Winners will be invited to attend the prize giving ceremony at the Stanley Spencer Gallery. Lord Young of Cookham will present prizes to the artist in each category (adult, junior and child) whose work has attracted the most votes from visitors to the exhibition.

Who has not been moved  by the sight and scent of a beautiful rose in full bloom in the summer sun? Then imagine a church filled with flowers - all with a story to tell!

In celebration of Cookham Festival’s golden anniversary, what better way to showcase the wealth of arts exhibited at the Festival over the years than with fifty glorious arrangements - and some surprises! Morning coffee, light lunch and afternoon tea available. Live musical accompaniment - see website and social media for times.

 

Saturday 13 and Monday 15 May 10.30am-6pm;

Exhibition: Peeps into Panto

PantoParish Centre, Church Gate, SL6 9SP                                                                                                                                                            Free entry

Pantomime thrives in a strong community - one able to laugh at itself. This exhibition spotlights over 50 years of pantomime in Cookham.

Local people have searched lofts and unlocked memories to help provide this fascinating archive, presented in a way that revisits the magic, the music and the fun. Come and relive your part in it all or see what you missed. It could happen again. “Oh no it couldn’t!” “Oh yes it could!”.
