COOKHAM PARISH COUNCIL

Minutes of a Meeting of the PLANNING COMMITTEE held at the

Community Room on Tuesday, 4th August 2009 commencing at 7.30 pm

PRESENT:       Cllr D. Fry (Chairman),

Cllrs M. Brar, P. Brockwell, M. Coker, G. Harris, F. Hewer, M. Innes,

M. L. Kellaway, R. Piercey, D. Ricardo, M. Wellman and H. J. Woodbridge.

ALSO PRESENT: Mr Roger Belcher and Sonia Kapur (Maidenhead Advertiser)

Mr Roger Belcher gave a presentation on his ideas for possible CCTV to protect the Alfred Major. He focused on the main problem areas of the play ground and the Outdoor Fitness Zone. Using wireless technology, Mr Belcher would wish to erect a pole in the school playground with at least three cameras attached to view the play area. The school would also have the option to attach a camera to protect their playground. The cameras could be programmed to record for selected periods of time such as dusk to dawn. A monitor would be placed in the Parish Office for viewing the footage. The images would be good enough for prosecution. Councillors were then invited to ask questions.

The session ended with the following action: the Clerk would copy Mr Belcher’s written notes to all Cllrs; Mr Belcher would provide a more in-depth quote for the CCTV system; the Clerk and Chairman would continue to follow-up possible funding; a group of Councillors would meet with the school in September to discuss this further.
