Pension Campaign March 1st February
2003 The march has been approved by the Metropolitan Police, (there were last minutes doubts because of the firemen's strike), and will take place at 12:00 noon on Saturday 1st February. The more people who attend the better as it will demonstrate just how many people have lost their pension entitlements. It has been organised by the pension action group from United Engineering Forgings (UEF), and I'm sure we will all thank them for the considerable work they have done to get this off the ground. Please meet in Tothill Street no later tham 11:30a.m. Tothill Street runs West from Westminster Abbey, branching off Victoria Street by the Methodist Central Hall. The nearest tube station is St James' Park which has an exit into the West end of Tothill Street. The march will start at 12:00 noon. We will march from Tothill Street to Parliament Square, then down Whitehall. A small group will hand in a petition to 10 Downing Street. The march will then continue to Whitehall Place for speeches. It is hoped that there will be speakers from Amicus and the Transport & General unions. It is expected that the event will finish around 2:00p.m. If you have any queries, please contact Bill Riggans from UEF via his mobile 07850-744808. Please try to attend, publicity is our best weapon. ASW Sheerness people will be contacted by Phil Healy by phone or mail in the near future. |
