Around Cookham for the last few months, people have been seen clutching copies of Wilkie Collins' Victorian whodunnit 'The Woman in White'. Saturday 29th April was an opportunity for them all to get together and listen to a discussion of the various local book clubs that had been reading it. This consisted of The Cookham Book Discussion Group, lead by Greta Dixon, The Holy Trinity Group led by Ivor Sayer and a group from Desborough. Jean Hedger who specialises in buying and selling antiquarian books led the evening, which took place at Cookham Dean Village Hall. In the first half there was also an expert on Collins while the second half had someone who had been involved with the play that is currently showing in London and which a coachload of Cookhamites visited earlier in April. The audience were able to ask questions about the show and also may have had input to changes that may be made from their feedback. |
