The Pinder Hall was rocking on Friday night to the sounds of the Brass Volcanoes from London. The band is composed of young jazz musicians who are inspired by New Orleans marching bands but include Latin, funk and standards played in an infectious style so that, by the end of the evening, half the audience were dancing in the hall!
The band made a dramatic (and very loud!) entrance from the street and marched down the aisles to the stage. A unique line up of two trumpets, one trombone, two saxes, drums and sousaphone made for a fun evening – no one was bored and no one fell asleep!
Stars of the band are Graham Hughes the Leader and inspiration on sousaphone and Ben Cummings on trumpet who looks like Kenny Ball and plays in his band which is still playing after Kenny’s recent death. This was the last event at the Pinder Hall and it made a rousing end to a great Festival!
