WE HAVE HAD NO BURGLARIES AT ALL IN THE LAST 48 HOURS !!!

Some good Crime Prevention advice:
If you are buying anything electronic as a Christmas Present this year, can you take an extra step ?  Can you list the serial numbers and write them down and include them with the gift ?  Most serial numbers, are printed on the side of the box so it should be simple.  The recipient can then keep the list somewhere or even better, register them on IMMOBILISE.COM

NEXT – I HAVE HAD THIS IN:

Hi Jeff,
I often call in the ‘Nottingham Knockers’ on the 101 number, along with other cold callers. I have found that the switch board (PEC), on some occasions, didn’t know what I meant by the Nottingham Knockers and didn’t seem very interested in any event, when I reported other aggressive sales callers.

We have a number of vulnerable elderly people living in our road and we do as a road, try and take care of them.

I hope this is useful.

Kind Regards Susan

Can I let everyone know – categorically – we want you to phone through these types of incidents to us.

We want you to phone through every Nottingham Knocker, as they leave your doorstep.  If the PEC operator doesn’t know what a Nottingham Knocker is – it does happen – tell them they are young lads cold calling door to door, selling household products.  If you get anyone else cold calling, we need to know that as well, as it may form patterns of crime at a later date.

If you encounter any resistance, just explain you have been asked to do this by your local Area Commander and Head of our Local CID !  Then email me the details of time and date you reported the incident, together with a URN number, if you were given one.

Every call to the police, which requires some form of action, is allocated a URN (a Unique Reference Number – a number and a date).  It is simply the next page number on the computer.  With that number, I can track every action that has taken place.  You must not come off of the phone, without being given a URN, if your call requires any form of police action.  The number follows the job until completion.  This may well simply be a training issue ?  I have attached the NHW Handout – How and When to contact the police, you may find useful.  It explains everything you need to know when calling the police.

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:

Geoff has sent me in a copy of an email sent to one of his elderly neighbours.  It has caused her much anxiety:

It is addressed to her personally and says that a named man – who is the Gifts & Prizes Manager, would like to come to her home – he gives the address – on a date given.  He would like to offer her a prize of £30,000.  She should keep an eye on her letterbox as in a few days time she should receive details of the campaign and an enrolment form.

She was really worried.  If any of your neighbours receive anything like this – bin it.
