Crime: 14 February 2014

I have been receiving brilliant and very generous offers of help, assistance, support, as well as equipment to assist those suffering with the floods.  These range from Boats from the Datchet Sailing Club, 4 X 4s from local farmers and residents, to high powered torches from Ledco Ltd a local business in Ascot.  Other members with specific skills to aid flood victims have very generously offered their time and experience.  Everyone is really grateful.

Thank all of those who have offered help and support.  We have already had the Windsor Duck out assisting in the evacuation of people and hotels, offering bedrooms and food.  If you are able to offer support please email directly to emergency.planning@rbwm.gov.uk

Please copy me in, as I am trying to monitoring what help has been offered and taken up.

The two Princes have been in Datchet this afternoon, helping flood victims.

No rural crime in RBWM this week, but several cases of heating oil theft.  If you have an external heating tank – it needs to be protected at this time and I have attached Mrs. Chalmer’s (our Crime Reduction Advisor) handout re Tank Security.

A REMINDER WHEN CALLING YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY:

Dear Jeff,

Please make people aware that if they phone their insurance company with a question, even if they don't claim, or are not covered, it still goes down on their records as a claim.  It will therefore affect their premium next year.

This is Insurance company policy and is in use across the board, as the information is added to the national database.
Once on the national data base, it can't be removed, even if no claim is made nor money paid.

Many thanks,

Carol
