NO COURIER FRAUDS REPORTED SINCE THE 1^ST MARCH IN RBWM.  I CAN ONLY HOPE THIS IS BECAUSE THE MESSAGE HAS FINALLY BEEN CIRCULATED WIDELY ENOUGH AND WHEN POTENTIAL TARGETS HEAR THE FiRST WORDS – THEY PUT THE PHONE DOWN.
 
My apologies if I am being slow in responding to your emails !  There are presently 860 emails in my inbox !  I am working my way through them !!!
 
Some members are having problems with messages going into SPAM.  I have 12,000 people on the system and when I send a message it goes out unaddressed to you individually, but in a batch of usually 25.  Many SPAM filters catch this – as it is not personally addressed, and put it into your SPAM box.  To prevent this, I asked VisaV who manage the system, for some advice:

‘What we do suggest is that, as all Alert emails are sent from the email address "alert@neighbourhoodalert.co.uk",we advise people to add that address to their allowed senders / whitelist, so that their email client knows they do wish to receive emails from us.

4/3  Tuesday midnight / 2.30 a.m.  Bailey Close.  An offender opened the letterbox and then taped it up using parcel tape and then inserted a implement to try and unlock the rimlatch (yale type lock) inside.  FORTUNATELY IT HAD BEEN DOUBLE LOCKED AND THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE.  The offenders then tried to reach the keys on a hallway table using a long hook.  This also was unsuccessful, but made enough noise to wake the owner who went to investigate and saw a pair of eyes through the letterbox.  They immediately made off.

5/3  Wednesday 7 a.m.  Stables, Dean Lane, Cookham.  Offenders have entered the property by forcing a gate and stolen a battery charger.
4/3 – 5/3  Tuesday 4 p.m. / Wednesday 6 a.m.  Golf Club, Grange Lane, Cookham.  Offenders have entered the property by forcing a gate leaning to greenkeepers shed.  Attempt made to force open a storage bin.  No entry gained and nothing stolen.
2/3 – 3/3  Sunday 1 p.m. / Monday 9.45 a.m.  Business, Popes Lane, Cookham Dean Bottom.  Offenders have tried to remove the lead flashing from a bay window

The Jaguar stolen in the Vamoose burglary in Cox Green, which I reported on Friday, has been found, by the owners in Ashbourne Grove.  Did anyone in that area see it being parked up ?

MEMBERS’ ADVICE:
 
WE HAVE HAD A SERIES OF ‘LETTERBOX’ BURGLARIES IN COX GREEN, MAIDENHEAD.
 
These have mainly been through UVPC doors, where the owner has not double locked it, when going to bed.  THE SIMPLEST SOLUTION – WHICH HAS A 100% SUCESS RATE AGAINST LETTERBOX ENTRY – IS TO DOUBLE LOCK THE DOOR UNING THE KEY !

Thanks for info regarding opening the door through the letterbox. I have placed a secure shelf just about the letter box, which stops anyone gaining access to the lock.

I have received a couple of emails which I am sure are scams so I haven't clicked on any links.
 
The first email purported to be from Amazon confirming an order which I did not recognise. A real giveaway is that it had half a dozen addressees apart from myself, which is something people should look out for when an email is apparently relevant to an individual.  This one had a .zip attachment, which is no doubt malware.
 
The second purported to be from Natwest and was a bit more subtle in that I was the only addressee shown and it suggested that they had received £265.93 which they were ready to pay to me. It then says 'Click here to view your transaction history' with a link.  I am not a Natwest customer and I'm not expecting a payment, so I have ignored the link.
 
I tried to report them to the Action Fraud website, but that seems to expect that a link has been clicked and malware installed.

Thanks Phil.  I have had one or two from Barclays Bank to my police email every day - and as with you, I don't bank with that bank.
 
They are counting on a percentage hit rate of Barclays Bank customers.  If that is 20% of messages sent and 1% of those respond - it must be worth their while, or they wouldn't bother !!!
 
A QUESTION FOR ANYONE WITH BT PHONE LINE KNOWLEDGE ???

In Windsor we receive many calls from Asian gentlemen talking about our PC.  We always firmly put down the phone.
 
We are at this moment abroad and in the past 2 days we have received 3 calls of exactly the same nature, on the landline in our apartment.  From abroad, we are able to access our UK answer phone and have done so recently, listening to and then deleting the calls, several of which didn't leave messages.
 
While now receiving these calls abroad, the caller display on our telephone shows the caller's number as exactly the same 3 digits, which we use to access the answer phone.
 
The numbers are too coincidental. By using this system, have the callers been able to track our telephone number abroad?  Its extremely irritating.
