Crime: 31 March 2014

Three incidents from Windsor that are useful for everyone to be aware of:

  1.  28/3  Friday  Queen’s Gate Cottages, Kings Road.  Bogus Builder.  The owner received a knock at the door.  Some workmen were standing there, who said he needed new windows.  He agreed and went to his bank each day for three days, withdrawing £500 each time.  No work was in fact required on the windows.  The Aggrieved already has a lifeline pendant connected to a monitoring station, but did not use it, thinking the workmen were being helpful.
WE DO NOT BUY GOODS AND SERVICES AT THE DOOR !

Bogus builders rarely have only one job on the go !  If we uncover one, there are likely to be several more elderly and vulnerable residents, being ripped off !  Keep an eye on anyone in your road that is having work done.  If they are elderly, isolated or vulnerable, drop an email to the Relevant Neighbourhood Team – the group emails are above each of the crime lists, by Neighbourhood.  We will arrange for a PCSO / RBWM Community Warden, to walk past on another pretext and happen to call by, to make sure all is in order.
  1.  29/3 – 30/3  Saturday 7 p.m. / Sunday 11.30 a.m.  Errington Drive.  Burglary – possible LETTERBOX ENTRY.  The UVPC door was not double locked, and there is no signs of damage, so it is presumed they inserted a crook through the letterbox to pull the handle down inside and walk in.  Tidy search of the house – Nano 3GB and a Toshiba Laptop stolen.  PLEASE REMEMBER THE ADVICE – DOUBLE LOCK THE DOOR EVERYTIME YOU GO OUT AND AT NIGHT.  If this door had been locked with the key, this burglary could not have happened !
  2. 28/3  Friday 12.30 p.m. / 6.30 p.m.  Legoland, Winkfield Road.  Spare wheel stolen from underneath a VW Amorok pick up.  As I keep saying, if you have a spare under the car, please check it before and after, every journey, and always park in rearwards against an obstruction if possible, to prevent anyone from getting under the rear of the car to steal it
