Yet another Bogus builder to report I am afraid – Please see Cookham below.

PC Denise Jenkins has just been to see me.  She is investigating the theft of a charity box from a pub in Cookham.  In the past a single theft of a charity box has been the pre-curser to a series elsewhere.  Can you please warn any shops / pubs or any other places who have charity boxes on display – that they need to keep their eye on them, or have them emptied asap and regularly.

19/5  Monday 1.30 p.m. / 2.30 p.m.  Broom Hill, Cookham.  An unknown man had called at the house saying there was something wrong with the windows, but he would be able to repair them for her.  As she did not have any cash in the house, he took her to the bank where she asked the teller if she could withdraw £800.  Staff at the bank became suspicious as they know the aggrieved very well and this was unusual expenditure.  She also had little information about the man the money was for.  The bank called the police and the matter is being investigated – but no cash was removed from the bank.  Thank you to that teller and that bank, they went the extra mile !
