ANOTHER REALLY
GOOD 48 HOURS OF ALMOST NO CRIME
I have just had an email from David, in Raymond Road: Hi Jeff Just had someone at the door (10.45 a.m.) trying to sell household goods. Please find attached a photo Regards David Brilliant full facial photo attached ! I have asked David to phone it through on the 101 number. As it happened, I had the Maidenhead Shift Sergeant with me, when his email arrived. A team was immediately dispatched, to ‘have a word’ with them !!! We have ‘Nottingham Knockers’ right across the patch at the moment. Please phone them through on the 101 number, with a good description – they may have moved on since your call and we need to locate and ‘have a chat’ to them. They may appear to be nice young lads – and many of them are – but one of their tasks is to locate the addresses of elderly / vulnerable residents, who may have cash in their homes.
A case
from Windsor to illustrate a point !
24/7 Thursday 1.15 p.m. Kipling Court, York Road. An offender entered the property through a front door LEFT INSECURE – the owner returned and heard a noise from their bedroom. They went to investigate and found a man there, with her jewellery in a carrier bag. When confronted he said – “I have come to collect Phillip’s rubbish” and left. Fortunately he left the jewellery behind. He is described as white, 6’, medium build, bald head, youngish looking face – possibly in his 30s, wearing a white T shirt and dark trousers. Front / rear doors and windows – despite the current heat - must be double locked, every time you leave your home and at night. Inaccessible windows on the first floor, can be left open while you are home at night, for ventilation. Even when you are home you cannot leave windows open if you are not in that particular room. Opportunist thieves are always out there. If they do get inside your home, they will have a prepared answer - if disturbed - to your – ‘What are you doing here’ ? It could be anything, but it will confuse you and while you are thinking about it – they will be gone ! Nothing was stolen, but the car had obviously been LEFT INSECURE MAIDENHEAD SOUTH BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK: maidenheadsouthnhpt@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk Your Neighbourhood Page on TVP's Website - Click Here 22/7 – 23/7 Tuesday 8.30 p.m. / Wednesday 9.45 a.m. Manor Lane. Car entered BY UNKNOWN MEANS – mini rucksack and contents stolen from the back seat. This includes a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, a Seiko watch, a Sony camera and camera bag. OLDFIELD & BRAY: maidenheadsouthnhpt@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk NO CRIME TO REPORT MEMBERS’ COMMENTS: Scam letters from a bank: Hi Jeff, I have received a second letter purporting to be from the Lloyds Bank PPI team, claiming that I had taken out PPI on my credit card from Lloyds Bank and am now due compensation. I would need to fill in the enclosed forms giving personal details. Luckily, I have never had a credit card with Lloyds, so I was suspicious. When I took the first letter to the bank, they noticed that the logo had been photocopied, as it was black not green so it was a fraud. The letter looked very convincing, but, as the bank pointed out, they would not be asking for the personal details – my bank would already know who I am ! The second letter arrived today, urging me to act promptly!! I shall of course ignore it! Regards, Naomi Thanks Naomi, anything that comes to you – dear customer / resident and not by name, should be BINNED without even reading it, particularly if it asks for personal / bank details. If like the Hong Kong letters from My Hua Hin, or several other names he uses (someone with a similar name to you has died in Hong Kong leaving millions and he will process it for you to get the money), it does use your name, if the content is unlikely – BIN IT ANYWAY. I put out the warning related to the elderly resident who received a letter to say she had won the American lottery and sent them £6,000 to complete her claim !!!! |
