MARSH MEADOW PROTECTION GROUP

In 1999 it was decided to build a car park in Marsh Meadow. The plans were opposed by many villagers and after a great deal of pressure the plans were dropped.

Since then other plans have been put forward for Marsh Meadow so it is important that this jewel on the Thames is protected.

Below is some history of the 2000 fight for Marsh Meadow.

"Men of Cookham Make a Stand

For the saving of our land

In England, commons left are few

To save this one devolves on you.

If Odney goes they'll want your Moor

Next, the piece outside your door;

A splendid car park it would make

And money too, there's no mistake".
