7.5 Tonnes Weight Limit As mentioned earlier in this document, we recommend that a 7.5 tonnes weight limit should be placed on through traffic from Sutton Road to the west end of The Pound. There would obviously have to be some exemptions including those for access, buses and emergency vehicles.
Cookham Bridge We recommend that a feasibility study is carried out prior to the next major works on Cookham Bridge, to determine whether it is possible to resume two-way traffic and provide safe crossing for pedestrians. We recommend that the current weight limit be retained.
Herries School We are concerned by the congestion of traffic around Herries School particularly at drop-off and collection times, and by all-day parking of cars in the road outside the school. We hope that an accommodation might be agreed with the National Trust to arrange some school parking on the verge of The Common adjoining the site, similar to that on the Common by Cookham Dean Village School. We believe that the speed limit in Dean Lane should be reduced to 30 m.p.h.
Narrow Lanes and Speed Limits We are concerned by the proliferation of in-vehicle satellite navigation systems, which suggest the diversion of traffic on to Village lanes when main roads are blocked. We recommend that signage is reviewed where lanes are unsuitable for heavy and through traffic. We are also concerned by the current random speed limits in Cookham Dean, some of which include de-restriction signs at the entrance to very narrow lanes. We recommend a review.
Public Transport We recommend synchronised bus and train timetables and the use of smaller buses, which could be used more widely in the Village. |
