: GOOD NEWS! REVISED STATION COURT SCHEME REFUSED : Cookham Society June 17, 2022, 01:24:34 AM Back in March 2021 plans to build a three-storey block of 12 flats on the old station yard produced furious objections from many residents. Not only was the block far too big and dominant in this location but the proposed provision of parking was woefully inadequate and after much campaigning the application was refused. Subsequently a revised scheme was submitted comprising 8 terrace houses, still unsuitable for the location.
Finally we are pleased to announce that the revised scheme was rejected by the RBWM Panel last night. Only one councillor for, a couple of councillors abstained, the rest were against the application making for a healthy majority. The Cookham Society representative and the Parish Councillors (Mandy Brar and Gerry Clarke) were the only speaking representations but succeeded in persuading the Panel to reject an Officers’ recommendation to permit it. Our Planning Section worked very hard at making the successful objection strategy and we are very happy with the outcome. |
