: New Planning Application : Cookham Society June 20, 2022, 01:15:59 AM BUILDING A CONCRETE "ROSE GARDEN" AGAIN? WHICHEVER WAY YOU LOOK AT IT THIS IS GREEN BELT!
The new application 22/01251 for building on Green Belt at the corner of Whyteladyes Lane and Dean Lane differs only from the last application back in Nov. 2021 in that instead of Mock Tudor we now have the threat of an ugly flat-roofed box that is even less in keeping with the area. There was a huge response in objection letters to RBWM about the previous one and we need at least as many again to stop this niggling away at our Green Belt. It's the same arguments. The application downplays the visual effects. Going westward from Cookham Rise Lower Road becomes Dean Lane at the junction with Whyteladyes Lane and presently there is the welcome view of open fields either side of the road. If this application goes ahead it will block the immediate view to the left. In fact whichever way you look at it, whether from the roads or footpaths the house will stand out like a sore thumb. Possibly it may even pave the way for further building along Dean Lane.
