Post by: Cookham Webmaster on December 09, 2022, 02:53:57 PM
Runners will be in with the chance to win a prize for the best fancy dress attire as a Christmas Eve running event returns.

In its eighth, year, the CMC Christmas Eve Trot, organised by Cookham Members Club, an informal exercise club, will see participants enjoy some festive fun on Saturday, December 24 ahead of the big day.

The event feature two runs around Cookham – one from 8.30am which includes a 20km circular clockwise muddy trail run, while the other will start at 9.45am and will feature a 5km around Winter Hill.

Runners will start and finish at The Old Swan Uppers pub at The Pound in Cookham.

The best fancy dress outfit will win a prize.

The event costs £25 for adults, £15 for children and £60 for the family and includes a bacon sandwich at The Old Swan Uppers from 10.30am.

Starting with three people, the event has grown to feature more than 100 people, with hopes to increase this to 200 this year.

Last year £2,000 was raised for Holy Trinity CofE Primary School in Cookham and there were 150 participants.

This year the club has chosen to raise funds for Maidenhead Foodshare and all proceeds will go to the charity.

Jason Powell, one of the CMC founders, said: “Once a year we come together to raise money for less fortunate members of our community; this year with a cost of living and heating crisis we wanted to raise money for Maidenhead foodbank.

“We hope our efforts will help make the lives of some residents of Maidenhead just a little easier and more enjoyable.”
