: charity golfing day at Winter Hill set for Saturday : Cookham Webmaster April 12, 2023, 08:10:39 PM Winter Hill Golf Club in Cookham is holding what could be its last ever charity event on its course this Saturday.
All members have been invited to take part – and former members, too, to enjoy the course for perhaps the final time before it closes at the end of this month. This annual ‘fun golfing event’, in aid of Elizabeth House day centre for the elderly in Cookham, would normally run in May. It has run for several decades. Last year it raised about £1,200. But the course is set to close at the end of April, meaning it has to bring this event forward. More than 100 members will be playing this time. This is different to usual – in previous years, it would be more of an invitation-based involvement, whereas this time the event has been opened up to the whole club. “We have got a lot of ex-members coming to play for one final time,” said organiser Adrian Gatcombe. “It’s been very well-supported by members, which is great for the charity. We hope to raise a lot more [than previous years] The event will tee-off at 12pm this Saturday, April 15. |
