Title: Volunteer for the Big Help Out
Post by: Mozart on May 08, 2023, 10:59:39 AM
The 'Big Help Out' event in Cookham Dean being cancelled today, the Cookhams Fund Raising Group for Thames Hospice is appealing for volunteers.
The Hospice is looking for volunteers for their retail stores, specifically in Camberley, Sandhurst and Henley-on-Thames as well as an Ebay assistant based at Kings Grove Industrial Estate in Maidenhead.

The Hospice is always looking for event volunteers in Fundraising. Some of the events coming up for volunteers include-
•             Maidenhead Open Gardens – Sunday 25 June, West Court, Bray. Gardens are open from 1-5pm, they need volunteers to keep an eye on the pool and river areas and to check badges by the gate on entry. Duties are split into 3 shifts per post: 12:45-2:30, 2:30-4 and 4-5:30, they would be grateful for anyone who is happy to do one or more shifts on rotation. Each volunteer will receive a free badge for the Rotary Open Gardens event for the weekend. There will also be prosecco and pimms available for a donation.
•             Thames Hospice Open Water Swim – Sunday 2 July, Thames Hospice. This is their brand new open water swim event in Bray Lake and they will need volunteers to help with things such as registration, medal distribution, valuables tent, refreshments and car park marshalling.
•             Eton Teas – Tuesday 4th July, Eton College. Volunteers to help on the day with washing, clearing and serving.
•             Their annual Sunflower Walk will be held on Sunday 10th September. They will need lots of volunteers to help with this event.

For any of the event volunteering, please would interested parties contact Amie Carter in Fundraising on amie.carter@thameshospice.org.uk or call 01753 848946 for more information.

Thank you on behalf of Thames Hospice

The Coronation Big Help Out
Two ways you can make a difference
Here are two ways you can get involved in the Coronation Big Help Out which kicks off today.

An easy way to start is by offering some help to our wildlife art festival Our Changing Earth over the weekend 9/10/11 June. If you can give us just a bit of time go to https://tinyurl.com/OCEVolunteer.  We're looking for a few more volunteers to add to those who have already come forward.  This is going to be a really impressive event so please sign up!

Another way to make a difference in tackling the Environment and Climate Crisis is through the local EcoAction Hob.  WildCookham is one of the partners involved in setting up the Hub, located in the Nicholsons Centre in Maidenhead. It is full of useful ideas on how to reduce your carbon footprint, live more sustainable lives and support biodiversity.   You can find all the details on the Hub's homepage.  Rather than forward their newsletters to you all it would be better if you could sign up directly for them also on their homepage.

Forthcoming events that you might be interested in are the seedling swap on May 13th and the clothes swap on May 20th. The Repair Cafe also now operates from the Hub.

If you want to help with other projects with WildCookham and you can give us just a bit of time email us at wildcookham@gmail.com. We have projects and activities to suit all levels of interest, skill and availability.  They all depend on local involvement so please get in touch to find out how you can help.
