Title: Victims of Crime and Crime Update Post by: Thames Valley Police on June 03, 2019, 07:54:14 PM FIRST: This is ‘Volunteer Week’. Can I thank all those that help us by volunteering. It is very much appreciated. Please think about volunteering for our re-purposing sewing course ?? So far, I believe we have only had one response !
NEXT: I have received this request from Trading Standards to share this video. It might be useful to make this available: Kent County Council asked us to share the link to a film to demonstrate how easily people can become vulnerable and a victim of criminal abuse. This is a hard hitting film that was produced under the management of Kent County Council and funded by Kent Trading Standards, Public Protection team in collaboration with local authorities and associated police forces. Many thanks Rob Rob Abell Fair Trading Officer Trading Standards & Licensing Team | Community Protection & Enforcement Services | Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead It Shows how scammers and Fraudsters befriend and then defraud vulnerable people !!! MEMBERS’ COMMENTS: FIRST: From Graham I received a phone call on my BT line this afternoon. A pre-recorded message said....... “The name on your broadband contract has been compromised and your broadband is about to be disconnected, press 1 to be connected.” It sounded like a scam so I hung up. I dialled 1471 and then googled the number and found out that it is not free to call ! Should I be worried ? Graham No – just another scam call – often the reply is at a premium rate and it has a long intro while you are being charged. |
