Having been one of the victims of stolen Catalytic converters at the weekend.
 
Can you notify people that the thieves do not just go to the back of the vehicle.  My car was jacked up from the side causing damage to the bodywork as well.
 
They must be selling these to scrap yards, so would it not be possible to identify these from local scrap yards and also put restrictions on the scrap yards.

Many thanks Joyce.  We are indeed checking local scrap yards.  After the issues with stolen copper and lead, scrap yards came under a great deal of scrutiny.  They now have to keep immaculate books about all the metal they receive.  We take the books and do spot checks around the yards to make sure everything is recorded properly.
 
I have looked on Ebay and replacement units are available quite cheaply, compared with a dealership.  If they are stealing and then selling them on Ebay, they are making very little money, compared with the risks involved.
 
If something draws your attention, it is because it is out of the ordinary - suspicious.  Our instincts are always right and there to protect us, ignoring the usual.  If your attention is drawn - always let us know - that intelligence is vital for us - and your community.

3/2  Monday 4.40 p.m.  Maidenhead Road, Cookham.  Catalytic converter stolen from under a Honda Jazz.

BOYN HILL, COX GREEN & WOODLANDS PARK:
3/2  Monday 9.30 p.m.  Wootton Way.  Business burglary.  2 men entered the shop.  One walked to the Wine shelves, the other walked behind the till and stole a box of cigarettes, they immediately made off.  They are described from CCTV as:
 Asian / European mid 20s, 5’11’’, slim, hair cut with short back and sides - longer on top, short goatee beard, wearing all black clothing.
Asian, mid 20s, 6’, slim, same haircut as the other, longer goatee beard, wearing all black clothing.
3/2  Monday 8 a.m. / 4 p.m.  Lexington Avenue.  The owner returned to find their rear door forced and the house searched.  Not yet known if anything stolen.
4/2  Tuesday 10.10 a.m.  Boyn Hill Close.  Burglary.  A man walked into the house via an unlocked rear door, picked up a handbag and walked out.
 
OLDFIELD, BRAY & HOLYPORT:
4/2 - 5/2  Tuesday 5.45 p.m. - Wednesday 6.20 a.m.  Arkley Court, Holyport.  Car front and rear driver’s side windows smashed - radio and tools stolen.

I have received an email, asking me to set up Direct Debit for my TV Licence again.
 
I am over 75 and have not been paying, so at first, just for a moment, I thought it might be genuine.
 
I then looked it up on line and we don’t start paying till end of May, so I wonder if this is another con !!
 
I hope if it is nobody gets caught.

From a neighbour:
 
This morning, my husband received a phone call from somebody claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. The person appeared to have some personal details, but these were just the phone number, name and address, which could all have been found in the telephone directory. The number of the person calling was supposedly a Manchester number, though I understand they can display a false number now.
When we looked up the number online, we discovered that several people had received calls which came up with this number and some of them had been supposedly from the telephone preference service.
When we tried to call the number back from another phone, we discovered that the number, was not a genuine telephone number.
The person who called, became quite aggressive, when she was questioned on what she actually wanted. She did at one point, try to find out which credit or debit card had been used to set up the TPS originally !
 
Please re-iterate that the TPS service is FREE.“
