Title: COOKHAM SOS UPDATE
Post by: Cookham v Coronavirus on March 18, 2020, 04:50:13 PM
Its great to see so many of you are on board with helping those who may be needing our support.

Just to explain what's happening:

The database has been formed and split into micro areas with small groups of people designated to houses around them.  We've tried to do this as close to your own locations as possible to make this more logistically friendly for you and to give security to those who may be vulnerable but hugely appreciate that some of you will be able to cover a wider area.

Later today, we'll post those micro groups, tagging everyone on this page or contacting those who aren't on facebook.  It would be great, at this point if you could message your co-buddies in your group and set up a mini Whatsapp or messenger group.

The Help Forms (generously printed by the lovely Alastair Watt from ALS Presentation in Bourne End) will be ready today with ID cards hopefully following on Friday.

On Monday, Elizabeth House will become a central hub and we'll ask for a volunteer of each group to come in and collect ID cards and forms to cover their micro areas, along with guidelines of how they need to reach anyone that needs our help.  We have to remember that we're trying to reach those who aren't on facebook or a computer so we hope to cover every house and include others who may not be elderly and vulnerable but simply live alone or families who are facing self-isolation.

ID is paramount, hence the system taking longer to set up.  We needed to have a telephone number in place so everyone can be verified from a central point.  The number will be in place on Monday.

We'd like to achieve face to face contact on this 'buddy system' as much as possible.  Your forms need to be filled in with your own details and phone numbers so the individual has a direct line to you to ask you for the support they need.

The COOKHAM SOS identity is going out via media hubs, the Parish Magazine, Church Groups, the medical centre and the Pharmacy so we're hoping that no-one will slip the net.

This all sounds a little militant but we're reaching 3000 houses with 200 volunteers and it would be chaotic to simply send everyone everywhere without the structure.

So in short, its looking like Monday will be the Action Day but we'll get you started today with the groups on here.
