Title: Sky has announced that its sports package customers can pause their subscription Post by: Cookham v Coronavirus on March 19, 2020, 07:32:45 PM Sky has announced that its sports package customers can now pause their subscription without incurring any fees, but many are struggling to do so.
The media giant initially stated it wouldn’t be cutting any costs for Sky Sports subscribers despite the fact that most televised sporting events have been postponed or cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic, a situation which could potentially continue for months. The decision unsurprisingly drew widespread criticism – not least because it coincided with the latest round of painful Sky price hikes. In response, the firm has now made a small concession, allowing customers to ask Sky to pause their monthly payments. In a statement released earlier today, Sky said: “While we expect that many of the recently postponed sports events will eventually go ahead, if you wish to pause your sports subscription in the meantime you will not be charged a fee to do so or be held to any notice period.” Crucially, it added: “We are sorry that you are currently unable to pause your Sky Sports subscription online.” That means you’ll have to phone Sky to pause your payments. The only advice available is to keep trying to reach Sky over the phone as the company has made no other concessions. |
