Title: Non-urgent operations at Wexham Park suspended for three months Post by: Cookham v Coronavirus on March 20, 2020, 05:29:09 PM Wexham Park Hospital has suspended non-urgent elective operations as hospitals across the UK look to free up as many beds as possible during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Frimley Health Trust confirmed today that it will follow the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and suspend all non-urgent elective procedures from Wednesday, April 15 for at least three months. Freeing up beds will enable the hospital to cope with the number of COVID-19 patients when the virus peaks. Other procedures are also likely to be rescheduled as the hospital adapts its resources. Urgent emergency care and cancer treatments will carry on as normal. All those whose procedures are set to be cancelled will be contacted by the hospital. Many outpatient clinics will also be postponed or rearranged as telephone consultations. |
