Title: Bread for Flour set up by ex Fat Duck Staff
Post by: Cookham v Coronavirus on March 23, 2020, 03:33:47 PM
My name is Katherine- I am a chef from The Fat Duck, who has recently been without work due to the severity of our domestic (and global) crisis. However, myself and a few very talented chefs, have organised a hospitality collective to help aid our community and keep the morale altruistic during this uncomfortable period of ambiguity.

More about our Cooperative Project:

We, as a hospitality team, are raising money and supplies to support a community, country and world that is in desperate need of nurtute and support.

We, as a collective, are skilled and talented culinary professionals that have an obligation to feed and give back during this time.

We want to feed, create and support our community back to health through OUR own expression of art and love.

Due to the current global epidemic, many members of the hospitality industry have been laid-off and unable to go home during this time. Some, unable to see family members that they may never see again.

I ask YOU to support these people and our cause by donating whatever it is that you can.

With these funds we can purchase flour, salt and sugar, and other equipment to keep our cooperative alive.

We can also hire a facility to bake and cook.

TOGETHER, we can create a platform for those culinary professionals to create, thrive and nurture our local communities.

TOGETHER, we as a community, country and world can stand strong, as ONE , to feed the POSITIVITY of our inevitable future.

Our basic business exchange would be: We, as a non-profit cooperative, would supply 5-10 loaves of your choosing (brioche, focaccia etc)... In exchange we would take %50 of what you decide to sell the amenities. We will take the %50 in either monetary funds OR in supplies/ingredients that will help continue our baking cooperative.

I.E. “If the loaf is sold at £2.00 then £1.00 of that will go to the cooperative in cash-value or say £1.00 of flour.

The premise is simple. It will cost your business nothing more than awareness for our cause. We will deliver the goods and all we ask from you is the simple publicity of supporting the hospitality industry during a time of need.

Let me know your thoughts and I look forward to speaking with you.

Thank you The Fat Duck Restaurant for contributing 25 kg of flour! This is a huge help to our Bread for Flour and what a way to start baking!
