: Non Essential Car Journeys : Thames Valley Police April 06, 2020, 11:52:48 AM Our officers have stopped a large number of people this weekend who are out taking non-essential journeys.
These have included a man who was driving to jet wash his mother’s patio, and a man driving a 50 mile round trip to do some shopping. Trips like these are NOT essential and are putting a strain on emergency services. Additionally, going out on a motorbike does NOT count as self-isolation. We will always aim to engage with people and explain the new regulations to them, but fines may be handed out to people continuing to make unnecessary journeys. : Re: Non Essential Car Journeys : Watchman April 06, 2020, 02:24:39 PM Okay, a 50 mile round trip may be excessive, but I thought a run to the shops was acceptable.
Anyway, if his local stores don't have what he wanted, but he knew for certain that the shop he was going to visit 25 miles away would satisfy his needs … then why stop him? A friend of mine went all the way to a petrol station in Marlow (from Maidenhead) because she knew she would get her shopping there. Is that considered non-essential travelling? Or does one starve … or stand in a queue for 30 minutes and risk picking up the virus? It's a fine line we're walking here …. |
