His talk will show how the castle was used as a defensive structure, prison and a supply depot which was used by other Parliamentarian Thames Valley garrisons and for other military campaigns in the Midlands and Southwest England. The talk will also reveal the discovery of a network of fortifications which surrounded the castle which no longer exist today, which protected the town from marauding Royalists. Elias Kupfermann is a founder member of MAS. He is a qualified archivist and museum curator. His M.Phil. research was on Windsor Castle during the English Civil War. Elias is currently working towards a PhD.at Royal Holloway College, University of London on 19th century Orientalism. Attached: illustration of Windsor Castle: Hollar (Royal Collection).
