Title: Abolish the Bath Road Bus Lane
Post by: Cookham Webmaster on July 05, 2020, 01:25:23 AM
As directed by the government, the council has tried to reduce car use around the Slough by introducing a bus lane running all the way down the A4 Bath Road.

The lane takes the place of what was a traffic lane, and drivers say this has meant massive traffic jams as all remaining vehicles now have to use a single lane.

Drivers criticised the suddenness, and lack of any consultation, over the change, and now say the situation in the already traffic-clogged town has become much worse.

The bus lane runs all the way from the Huntercombe Spur to Uxbridge Road and can also be used cyclists. It also provides more space on the pavement for pedestrians to socially distance.

The scheme is a six month pilot, which could become permanent at the end.
