Title: National Trust Changes
Post by: Cookham Webmaster on July 29, 2020, 07:10:32 PM
These past months have been a difficult time for us all, and like many other organisations we’ve been hit very hard by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. We were touched by your support when we had to close houses, gardens, car parks, shops, cafés, holidays and stop so many events; resulting in losses of tens of millions of pounds for our charity.

I'm pleased that many of the places we look after are now open and welcoming you back. However, this time of closure, the continuing limits on the way we earn money to fund our charity, and the wider financial consequences of the pandemic mean that sadly we are going to have to make some changes and reduce in size.

I want to reassure you that we’ll continue to care for the beautiful places you love and that we all need today more than ever. But with sadness, I have to let you know that we’ll now need to do that with fewer staff. Despite already making considerable savings we need to act now to save much more to secure these places for the future. Regrettably, this means staff redundancies alongside other measures to cut our costs

The National Trust has been here for 125 years, and while these changes are very tough to make, I’m confident they’ll put us in a strong position to face the challenges ahead and ensure our conservation work can continue for the next 125 years and more, for the benefit of everyone and for generations to come.
