Title: Crime Update
Post by: Thames Valley Police on July 29, 2020, 08:05:25 PM
FIRST: A MESSAGE FROM OUR NEW GEOGRAPHIC / ENGAGEMENT INSPECTOR - TRACEY CROUCHER:

Kidwells Park, Maidenhead

Anti Social Behaviour, is a very interesting subject. One person’s ‘ASB’, is another person’s fun.
For example, When I worked nights, I would get home at 7am and climb into bed.  By 10am, I was so tired, even normal daytime sounds, were too much and prevented me from sleeping.  The sound of children loudly enjoying themselves and the drone of a lawn mower, was frustrating.  I had to recognise that my Sunday morning and my neighbours' Sunday morning, were very different.
Young people and children, have been locked up now for over 3 months, nightclubs are closed and there’s no loud music allowed in pubs.  This is one of the reasons, we have seen an increase in illegal raves and gatherings.
I have to balance this with local residents' needs, for a good night’s sleep and for their children to be able to sleep, without hearing shouting, loud conversations and that irritating back beat that pounds through your floors.
We have received complaints for the last 4 weekends, of groups gathering in Kidwells Park, playing loud music, sometimes until 3am.
In order to attempt to balance everyone’s needs, I have authorised a ‘Dispersal Order’ for Kidwells Park, to run from 7pm on Friday, to 9am on Sunday.
This is just one tool, in the police tool kit. We will use the ‘4 Es’ as we always do (Engage, Explain, Encourage and then Enforce). If the young people moved on, are under 18 - their parents will be spoken to.

If you are using the park for 'normal' activities, this will not affect you at all.

Look out for details of a Community Day in Kidwells Park, coming very soon.

Have a safe and enjoyable day
.
Inspector Tracey Croucher
Neighbourhood Geographic / Engagement Inspector, Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead
