Title: The Re-awakening!!
Post by: Cookham Webmaster on August 02, 2020, 02:44:50 PM
After five months of lockdown, the Stanley Spencer Gallery is planning to re-open on August 15th. The new exhibition “Love, Art, Loss: The Wives of Stanley Spencer” focuses on Spencer’s complex relationship with the two women who were so central to his work. The story of Hilda and Patricia, the loans from the Tate and Southampton, the striking new wall colour, and the changed layout make it a most fascinating and impressive show.
The Gallery is taking great care to keep everybody safe and has received the “Good to Go” accreditation from Visit England. Only ten visitors will be allowed at any time and they will be asked to wear masks and to sanitise their hands on entering.
It has not been an easy year for any gallery. But “Love, Art, Loss” looks a wonderful way to return from lockdown and we hope that you get a chance to come and enjoy it in safety.
