A further 29 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Berkshire, according to new official figures released today (September 7).

Five out of six areas saw a rise in cases, bringing the number of positive tests to 3,815.


Bracknell Forest saw nine new positive tests recorded, with Slough and Wokingham both recording six new cases.

West Berkshire was the only area with no increase in cases.

No further deaths have been recorded at hospitals in the county.



A total of 350,100 people are confirmed to have had the virus since the start of the pandemic, an increase of 2,948 since yesterday.

The Government said a further three people had died in the UK within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, making a new total of 41,554.

This is how the figures break down in terms of cases for each area of Berkshire:

Reading : 877 cases ( increase of three)
Slough : 790 cases ( increase of six)
Wokingham : 659 cases (increase of six)
West Berkshire : 542 cases (no change)
Windsor and Maidenhead: 525 cases (increase of five)
Bracknell Forest : 431 cases ( increase of nine )

The total number of deaths at Berkshire NHS trusts remains at 574, as detailed below:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 365
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 190
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 20
Meanwhile, people who break quarantine restrictions after returning to the UK will face tougher enforcement actions, the Transport Secretary said.

It comes as Grant Shapps announced a change in England's quarantine policy, adopting an approach which allows islands to be treated differently to a country's mainland.

Arrivals to England from seven Greek islands will need to self-isolate for 14 days from 4am on Wednesday, but mainland Greece will maintain its coronavirus quarantine-exemption.
