Title: Four of six Berkshire areas record new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

Nearly 18 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in the last 24 hours in Berkshire, according to new official figures released today (September 13).

Four out of the six areas saw a rise in cases, bringing the number of positive tests in 24 hours to 18, with the total now 3,993.


Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead - both seeing a big increase recently - have once again recorded the next biggest numbers of seven each.

No further deaths have been recorded at hospitals in the county.

Across the UK, five new deaths have been confirmed meaning the total coronavirus related deaths now sits at 41,628 .

So far across the UK, 368,504 have tested positive for coronavirus with 3,330 new cases confirmed in the past 24 hours.

This is how the figures break down in terms of cases for each area of Berkshire:

Reading : 911 cases ( increase of three)
Slough : 820 cases ( increase of seven)
Wokingham : 672 cases ( no change )
West Berkshire : 553 cases ( increase of one )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 579 cases (increase of seven)
Bracknell Forest : 455 cases ( no change )

The total number of deaths at Berkshire NHS trusts remains at 574, as detailed below:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 365
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 190
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 20
Coronavirus cases are rising around the country once again, which has led to strict new measures being introduced by the government.

Berkshire has seen days of rising cases, with the latest figures showing 40 new cases.

The R rate in the south east has also risen to to over 1 - the figures scientists use to gauge whether the epidemic is growing.

Two businesses, Kaspa's in Bracknell and The Walter Arms in Wokingham, have had to close for deep cleaning after outbreaks.
