A death has been reported at Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust along with a death at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, which covers Berkshire and Surrey. The news comes as 31 new cases were reported across Berkshire, with new cases recorded in the last 24 hours in all areas of the county. Slough has seen the most, with eight new cases reported, with six reported in Reading and in Windsor and Maidenhead. The news comes as the R number in the UK rose. The latest official data shows the estimate for R - the reproduction number of virus transmission across the UK - is now between 1.3 and 1.6 for the whole of the UK. Last week, it was between 1.2 and 1.5. This is how the figures break down in terms of cases for each area of Berkshire as of Friday, October 2: Reading : 986 cases (increase of six) Slough : 993 cases ( increase of eight) Wokingham : 754 cases (increase of five) West Berkshire : 621 cases (increase of five) Windsor and Maidenhead: 689 cases (increase of six) Bracknell Forest : 516 cases ( increase of one ) The total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire is now 589, as detailed below: Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 373 (increase of one) Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 196 (increase of one) Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 20 (no change) The latest data from Public Health England reveals the total number of UK cases has today risen by 6,968. The total is now at 467,146. A further 66 people have also died from the virus, taking the UK death toll to 42,268. Liverpool has the third highest weekly rate of new cases in England, the figures today show. Other cities continuing to see increases in their weekly rate include Newcastle (up from 212.0 to 239.4, with 725 new cases); Leeds (up from 119.7 to 149.3, with 1,184 new cases); and Nottingham (up from 42.7 to 100.6, with 335 new cases). |
