Title: Any recommendations for a central heating engineer?
Post by: aj on October 19, 2020, 09:43:58 AM
Hi folks
Our very old (but reliable) central heating system has had a pump failure. Does anyone have any recommendations for a local engineer who is ok working on old systems? - I've had a few over the years that just want to rip everything out but right now it works, we'd like to get through this winter on it, and I just need someone to replace the pump.

many thanks

Looks like I'm gonna have to tackle it myself, everyone's totally booked solid. Ah well. Pump on the way and it'll be a good opportunity to drain the system, de-scale it and then refill with corrosion inhibitor and boiler quietener, as the last time it got drained down it gurgled and moaned for days until I poured some of that magic Fernox stuff down its throat!. Just keeping fingers crossed we'll be good for winter after that.....

Try going on Next Door Cookham. There are usually some good supplier suggestions on there. https://nextdoor.co.uk/
