FIRST:- A NASTY CASE OF A BOGUS BUILDER: An elderly woman heard a knocking at her window. When she answered it a man was standing there who said he was working for someone up the road and could clean her gutters out for her. She did the right thing and said she needed to phone her son, as he arranged all that. The man said there wasn’t time for that and said he would do it for whatever she had in her purse. She handed him £50 as she was really intimidated. He then left - without doing anything at all ! He is described as - white, in his 50's, 6ft, overweight, black hair, clean shaven, no accent, black coat over dark clothing. This is a difficult one. Always check before answering the door who is outside. If you don’t know them, signal them away from a window. If you do answer the door - MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE DOOR-CHAIN ON, BEFORE YOU OPEN IT. Rattle it when doing this - if it is a scammer, they won’t bother to stay ! Unfortunately, after returning from abroad, an individual didn’t deem it necessary to self-isolate ! A £1000 fine for not following the requirement and putting our community at risk ! I think this is a tough regime for all concerned, but obviously is judged necessary for infection control at the present time. Best wishes from the OPAF Steering Group Colin Robertson Important change to our visitor policy - Covid-19 We are changing our policy for visitors across the Trust, so we can reduce footfall in our hospital wards and manage infection control. From Saturday 17 October, we will move to allowing just one visitor for up to one hour, once every three days – a change from a daily one hour visit. This will apply to adult inpatient wards only. Arrangements for maternity services and paediatrics, will remain as before and provision may continue to be made, for patients with special requirements and for end-of-life care, where medically appropriate. This is in response to an increase in the number of inpatients acquiring Covid-19 and patients admitted with positive tests. It reflects the proximity to our hospitals of areas that have been designated by the Government, as High Risk Tier 2. Just inform visitors booking new slots that new bookings must follow this guidance of one hour, every three days. If any wards are closed to admissions following patients testing positive for Covid-19, all visiting on that ward, will be suspended. These messages are being made public, but please help to spread this update to patients and their visitors. This is a global message. No: 43200335214 20/10 - 21/10 Tuesday 7.15 p.m. / Wednesday 7 a.m. Havelock Road. The aggrieved left his car keys in the glove box of a second car. The second car was searched and the keys stolen.
