MORE than 200 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in Berkshire.

The figure for the county's cases in the past day is at 239 cases, a total that is down from 331 reported cases on Friday.

Reports from Public Health England show 239 lab-confirmed cases were recorded on Sunday, November 15 in areas including Reading, West Berkshire, Bracknell Forest, Wokingham, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures bring the county's lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 tests total to 11,614, an increase of 816 cases in the county since the start of the weekend.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Reading - 31 cases, 2,169 total
West Berkshire - 40 cases. 1,469 total
Bracknell Forest - 30 cases, 1,235 total
Wokingham - 33 cases, 1,790 total
Slough - 76 cases, 2,868 total
Windsor and Maidenhead - 29 cases, 2,083 total
We are about half way through lockdown 2.0 now as figures are continuing to rise. The local seven-day rate of infection is as per below:

Reading - 123.1
West Berkshire - 144.6
Bracknell Forest - 124
Wokingham - 146.7
Slough - 294.9
Windsor and Maidenhead - 165.8

There have now been 1,369,318 people across the UK who have tested positive for Covid-19 - as of Sunday, November 15 at 4.09pm.

The total number of deaths - those with Covid-19 listed on their death certificate - across the UK has now reached 61,648.

A "tremendously exciting" US coronavirus vaccine that may offer very high levels of protection against Covid-19 could arrive in the UK as early as next spring, the Government has said.

British scientists have hailed the news that US firm Moderna's jab may be 94.5% effective against the illness.

Interim data suggests the jab is highly effective in preventing people getting ill and may work across all age groups, including the elderly.
