Title: Crime Update
Post by: Thames Valley Police on November 27, 2020, 10:14:28 PM
NO CRIME TO REPORT IN THE LAST 48 HOURS

NO BURGLARIES

AND
NO CARS BROKEN INTO !!!

FIRST:-  There is a perennial problem in Ascot particularly, but also for the rest of RBWM, of cars being left unlocked in the road and on driveways, even if behind gates.  Our opportunist thieves are well aware of this and it acts as a crime attractor, bringing them to your area.

They walk along roads and up and down driveways, simply trying car door handles.  If they find a car left unlocked they will enter and search it for the loose change left in the centre console, sunglasses left on the dashboard, or anything of value secreted in the boot.

PLEASE – CAN EVERYONE, PLEASE LOCK THEIR CARS !

NEXT: There was a burglary in Datchet – but the crime prevention advice is useful for everyone:

25/11  Wednesday, Datchet.  Attempted burglary in progress.  The owner was at home, when a man in a hi viz jacket knocked at the door.  They didn’t respond, so the man knocked louder.  Again the owner did not respond.  The man with 2 others, then walked around the house into the rear garden, where they tried to open the conservatory door.  As it was locked, they tried to force the lock.  The owner then knocked on a window and the men immediately made off, driving away in a white car.  The police were called and attended immediately.  They carried out an Area Search and located a car which matched the description given, which contained 3 men, who also matched the description given.  They were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary.  Ref. No:  43200394215.  There is a message here.  The 3 men only attempted to break into the property, because they thought – no-one was home. – so if the doorbell rings, or someone knocks at the door – you do not have to answer – but - you must let whoever is outside – know that someone is home.  Turn on some lights, turn up the TV or a radio – to give them that message.  You could go to a window and wave them away.  Whatever happens – you must let them know that someone is home and the house is not an easy target !
