ALMOST 200 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Berkshire in the past 24 hours, according to the latest figures.

Public Health England has recorded 195 lab-confirmed cases in the past 24 hours in areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough, and Windsor and Maidenhead.

These figures, correct as of 4pm on Wednesday, February 10, bring the county's lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 tests total to 51,624.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:

Reading - 42 cases, 10,116 total

Bracknell - 23 cases, 6,561 total

Wokingham - 30 cases, 7,593 total

West Berkshire - 26 cases, 5,742 total

Slough - 56 cases, 13,880 total

Windsor and Maidenhead - 18 cases, 7,732 total

The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:

Reading - 228.7

Bracknell - 213.8

Wokingham - 136.7

West Berkshire - 164.7

Slough - 329

Windsor and Maidenhead - 155.9

Boris Johnson will lead a Downing Street press conference on coronavirus on Wednesday afternoon.

The press conference will take place at 5pm and the Prime Minster will be joined by chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance, No 10 has said.

The Prime Minister will almost certainly address the new travel rules coming into place in the UK.

Speaking during Prime Minister’s Questions today, Mr Johnson urged Labour to get behind the latest measures.

Travellers also face charges of £1,750 to quarantine for 10 days in Government-designated hotels if they return to England from 33 “red list” destinations.
