: Berkshire coronavirus latest as 33 cases are reported but no new hospital deaths

Coronavirus infection rates have risen in three areas of Berkshire, new data shows - but there have been falls in two places, and no change in another.

The figures reveal that the rate - which shows the number of people with a positive test per 100,000 of population - has climbed in Reading, Windsor, and Maidenhead and Wokingham.

There have also been 33 new Covid-19 cases in the county today, Wednesday, April 28 - but there have been no new deaths at hospitals serving Berkshire.


Nationally, the Government said a further 29 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday, bringing the UK total to 127,480.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Wednesday, there had been a further 2,166 lab-confirmed cases in the UK.

It brings the total to 4,411,797.

This is the latest rolling seven-day coronavirus infection rates per 100,000 people for the week ending April 23:

Bracknell Forest: 14.7 (down from 16.3 )
Reading: 30.3 (up from 28.4 )
Slough: 53.5 (down from 63.5 )
West Berkshire: 15.1 (no change )
Windsor and Maidenhead: 32.4 (up from 30.4)
Wokingham: 26.3 (up from 23.4)

This is the latest breakdown of confirmed cases for each area of Berkshire since the start of the pandemic:

Bracknell Forest: 7,085 cases (three new cases) 7,085
Reading: 10,912 cases (four new cases) 10,912
Slough: 15,507 cases (14 new cases) 15,507
West Berkshire: 6,370 cases (seven new cases) 6,370
Windsor and Maidenhead: 8,489 cases (two new cases) 8,489
Wokingham: 8,238 (three new cases) 8,238

This is the latest data on the total number of deaths at NHS trusts in and around Berkshire:

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust: 1,247 (no change)
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust: 501 (no change)
Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust: 32 (no change)

How many people have had a Covid vaccine?

Government data up to April 27 shows that of the 47,540,984 jabs given in the UK so far, 33,959,908 were first doses – a rise of 116,328 on the previous day.

Some 13,581,076 were second doses, an increase of 379,265.
