The latest data from Public Health England shows Reading had the largest increase, with nine new cases, followed by West Berkshire with eight. There were six in Slough, four in Bracknell Forest and two each in Windsor and Maidenhead and Wokingham. The total of new cases is slightly down on the 39 recorded in yesterday's update. There were 22 on Wednesday. Meanwhile weekly Covid-19 infection rates have fallen in five areas of Berkshire and remained the same in one - Windsor and Maidenhead. The latest figures cover the seven days up to May 2 - the most recent weekly data available. Nationwide, the Government said a further 15 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 127,598. Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have been 152,000 deaths registered in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.
