Title: Cookham Dean Village Fete Post by: Showem on July 11, 2021, 10:26:23 AM Very happy to see that the village fete looks like it will take place again this year. 18th of September, for those who weren’t aware. I notice in the Flower and Cooking show there are a few new categories. That or I missed them before. Perhaps someone can elucidate me on what a couple of them are?
“A Japanese style flower arrangement” - I’m curious as to what that is? “1 Bottle of Homemade gin or spirit” - Is this a flavoured spirit like making a sloe gin, or is it meant to be distilled?? The flower and produce programme was originally put together by Janet for last years fete that obviously never happened but being in the same year as the olympics in japan, it was thought a japanese them for the flower arrangement would be good. Having had to google this idea myself, they seem to be quite simple arrangments, a few sprigs of foliage with just a hint of colour from a couple of flowers, maybe held in one place together in the centre or to one side of a dish of some kind. Water maybe incorporated too. If you google japanese flower arrangements then I'm sure you will find some ideas. Regarding the homemade gin or spirit, it would indeed be like making a homemade sloe gin, does not need to be distilled. But if you have your own distilled produce and would like to show it, we could certainly look to making an additional class for next year. |
