In 2022, a very special series of events in and around Windsor is planned throughout the year so that the local community can celebrate HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This is the first time in history that a monarch has achieved the extraordinary milestone of 70 years of service to the nation.  We invite the local community to celebrate this momentous occasion in style!

One of the highlights will be celebratory events planned for the special four-day Bank Holiday weekend, the 2nd to the 5th June, to which everyone is invited. Plans for this weekend include a picnic on the Long Walk in Windsor Great Park and a parade of 70 cars representing every year of The Queen’s reign. Giant screens will be in place so that major Platinum Jubilee events in London can be seen live from Windsor.

The Windsor Platinum Jubilee Committee was formed earlier this year to co-ordinate a range of sporting, musical and social events across the year to suit all ages and interests.  Annual events, like the Royal Windsor Horse Show, the Windsor Festival and the Royal Windsor Rose and Horticultural Society Show will all have special Jubilee status. The Committee is working alongside the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, The Crown Estate and many local businesses and charities to bring together a programme of events which reflects the diversity and range of interests of our community, so that everyone can feel a part of the special year.  There will also be legacy initiatives to benefit the local community beyond 2022 and fundraising through the Prince Philip Trust Fund to create lasting benefits for our area and its residents.

Our website, www.windsorplatinumjubilee.co.uk, will form the main hub for information, event details and suggestions on how to get involved. Further details will be announced in the Autumn.

We are asking everyone in the Windsor community and neighbouring areas to come and join these events for this special celebratory year!
